Our driveway, carport and paths had not been cleaned in 10 years. Grotty! Noah gave us a good quote, did a great job over 2 days, cleaned and sealed. It's brilliant, neighbours and passing strangers have commented favourably.

Why it matters here

Highlands weather is hard on homes

Cool, damp winters, frosty mornings and big shady gardens make the Highlands beautiful. They're also perfect for moss, lichen and black mould.

  • Moss on paths and driveways turns slippery, especially in winter
  • Lichen on roof tiles holds moisture and slowly wears the surface
  • Autumn leaves from oaks, maples and gums block gutters and downpipes
  • Green build-up on the shady side of the house stains render and paint

A proper clean every few years keeps your place safe, protects the surfaces and keeps it looking cared for.

Questions

Common questions

How much does roof cleaning cost in the Southern Highlands?

It depends on the size, pitch and how much moss and lichen there is, so we give you a fixed written price first. Text a few photos to 0403 507 558 and we can usually price it within a day or so.

How often should a roof be cleaned up here?

With the cool, damp Highlands climate and lots of big trees, most roofs need a clean every few years. Shady roofs under trees grow moss faster and may need it sooner.

Will pressure washing damage old tiles or render?

Not the way we do it. Roofs, render and painted surfaces get a low-pressure soft wash with a cleaning treatment. Only hard surfaces like concrete get high pressure.

Is the cleaning treatment safe for my garden and pets?

We wet plants down before and after, rinse runoff away and keep treatment off gardens as much as possible. Keep pets inside while we work and until surfaces have been rinsed.

I have a rainwater tank. What do I need to do?

Please disconnect or lock off your rainwater tank downpipes before we start (or empty the tank if you'd rather), so cleaning water and treatment don't run into it. If you're not sure how, we'll talk you through it when we quote.

Why is some moss still there after the clean?

The treatment keeps working after we leave. Dead moss and lichen often keep loosening and washing off with the next few rains, so the roof can look even better a few weeks later.

When is the best time of year?

Any dry day works. Spring and autumn are ideal up here. On frosty winter mornings we start a little later so roofs are safe to walk on.

Do I need to be home?

Not always. We need access to an outside tap and the areas being cleaned. We'll sort out the details when we quote.

Do you come out to the Highlands for small jobs?

Yes, but because we travel up from the Illawarra, small jobs are best combined. For example, a driveway with paths, or gutters with a roof clean.

Are you insured?

Yes. We carry $10 million public and products liability. We can email you the certificate of currency if you'd like to see it.
